Phil Cornish

Phil Cornish works in the Sustainability and Compliance division of San José’s Environmental Services Department. Before working on energy projects such as Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and the City Energy Project (CEP), he worked in the municipal environmental compliance and land use planning groups on alternative energy and Capital Improvement Program projects for the Regional Wastewater Facility. He also acted as the project lead for the ever-growing Burrowing Owl habitat. Prior to joining the City, Phil was a program manager with Guadalupe River Park Conservancy for 16 years, responsible for event planning, community engagement, communications, land management, and volunteer coordination. Phil has a BA in Biological Environmental Science from UC Berkeley with a minor in Forestry and Resource Management. A native of San José, he’s married with two daughters and enjoys playing bluegrass music in his spare time.
